When there is a Will left behind by the deceased, the immediate family will apply for a GP. However, when he/she dies without a Will, the family member has to apply for a Letter if Administration.

The Grant of Probate must be obtained by the executor at the soonest possible time after someone passes away. This will allow speedy arrangement of the inheritance and handling of the deceased estate.
