1. A HUSBAND is entitled to half of his deceased wife's estate if she has no children.
  2. A WIFE is entitled to a quarter share of her deceased husband's estate if she has no children.
  3. SONS usually inherit twice as much as compared to DAUGHTERS when one of their parents dies.

Under the Muslim law, the rules of inheritance are rather strict. A son takes double the share of a daughter, on the other hand, the daughter is the absolute owner of whatever property she inherits. If there is no brother, she gets half a share.
